Question 1

What makes DaVero different from other Healdsburg wineries?

Accepted Answer

DaVero Farms & Winery is one of the only wineries in Sonoma County focused exclusively on Italian grape varieties — more than 15 of them, including varieties like Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Fiano, and Pallagrello Bianco. The winery is certified both Demeter biodynamic and CCOF organic, and the estate also produces internationally renowned extra virgin olive oil. Visitors learn about regenerative farming, the importance of climate-appropriate varietals, and the value of letting Nature make the wines. They can explore the living farm, which includes vineyards, edible gardens, olive groves, fruit trees, and farm animals, making it a true agritourism destination rather than a typical tasting room.

Question 2

Do you need a reservation to visit DaVero Farms & Winery?

Accepted Answer

We encourage reservations to get the most out of your visit; they're required for guided tastings and the Pairing Experience. Walk-ins are welcome Friday through Monday.

Question 3

What Italian wine varieties does DaVero grow?

Accepted Answer

DaVero grows more than a dozen Italian grape varieties in Dry Creek Valley's Mediterranean climate, including Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Barbera, Montepulciano, Fiano, Greco, Malvasia Bianca, Moscato, Pallagrello Bianco, Falanghina, and Vermentino, and makes red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines. All wines are made with native yeasts from the grapes' regenerative vineyards.

Question 4

Is DaVero good for people who don't usually drink Italian wine?

Accepted Answer

Yes — DaVero's guided tastings are designed to introduce guests to Italian varietals in an approachable, educational way. Staff are known for their ability to help even non-Italian-wine drinkers discover new favorites. The farm setting, food pairings, olive oil tastings, and garden walks make it a memorable experience regardless of your wine background.

Question 5

Does DaVero offer food with wine tastings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Pairing Experience ($55/person) includes thoughtfully curated food pairings alongside five wines and a guided farm walk. The Classic Flight ($35/person) is wine-focused. For Bottle Service ($50/table), guests are welcome to bring outside food. DaVero also offers estate olive oils, orchard jams, and farm-grown produce for purchase.

Question 6

Can you walk the farm at DaVero?

Accepted Answer

Yes — exploring the farm is a highlight of visiting DaVero. Guests can wander through biodynamic vineyards, olive groves, edible gardens, butterfly gardens, and native plantings. The Pairing Experience includes a guided farm walk. Bottle Service guests can self-guide at their leisure. The farm is also home to some delightful and very friendly pigs.

Question 7

What is biodynamic wine, and how is DaVero certified?

Accepted Answer

Biodynamic farming is a holistic agricultural approach that treats the farm as a living organism and focusing on the health of the whole rather than just the crops. It goes well beyond organic farming by following natural rhythms, building soil health, and avoiding synthetic inputs entirely. DaVero holds Demeter certification — the gold standard for biodynamic agriculture — as well as CCOF organic certification. Native yeasts from DaVero's own vineyards are used for all fermentation, with no commercial yeasts or additives.

Question 8

Is DaVero Farms & Winery dog-friendly?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we love dogs! They must be leashed and under the control of an adult at all times.

Question 9

Does DaVero offer classes?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we offer classes on many different topics, including biodynamic farming, how to create and use compost, the impact of regenerative farming on wine quality, and how to boot your earthworm population, just to name a few.

Question 10

Does DaVero offer wine club membership?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and more: DaVero's Farm Membership program provides exclusive access to member-only estate wines (many wines sell out to members on release), olive oils, vinegars, jams, and more, along with discounts on tastings and purchases, invitations to member events, and the opportunity to be part of an amazing community of club members.
